Today I had the great pleasure of attending the Beauty Bloggers High Tea at The Victoria Room at Kings Cross. My reason for the “plus one” title is referring to me not being a blogger. I’ll get there soon!
It was a great day of eating (best scones ever!), drinking lots of tea and chatting on all things including beauty of course. It was so great to finally meet all my favourite beauty bloggers who I admire. Such a wonderful experience! I also learnt a lot due to them giving me helpful hints and tips which I took away with me, in hopes of utilising those advice to make this blog as wonderful and successful as possible! Thanks ladies!
I have never been to The Victoria Room before and the decor was exquisite! I was telling the ladies how it reminded me of an old-fashioned gentlemen’s club. I felt like I needed to pull out a cigar! Unfortunately I did not get any pictures of the venue, as the whole place had horrible lighting and felt like I was wearing sunglasses indoors. They literally had the blinds closed in there, in the middle of the day! It was very bizarre.
By the end of all the eating and drinking, everyone popped out all their un-used and brand new products to swap and all the left overs were donated to charity! What a great idea! Below are pictures I took with my iPhone so excuse the blurry and dark pictures. As I said, the lighting at the venue was horrible too which didn’t help either, but here they are:
I would like to thank all the beauty bloggers for an amazing day and hope to see you all very soon. And last but not the very least, a HUGE thank you to Sara-May for organising the event. (and inviting me!) I really did have a great time and can’t wait to do it all again!

I’m actually writing a blog post! Well, I guess I better start with the introductions. Hi, my name’s Aryanny and I’m in my mid-twenties. (No, I’m not revealing my real age) I was born in Singapore but grew up in Europe mainly in Sweden. (Hej till alla mina läsare i Sverige!) Unfortunately, I can only read and write Swedish but can’t converse in it. Bizarre I know! I moved to Australia when I was in my early teens and have been here ever since. I work in the retail sector where I play with make-up, jewellery and accessories all day. (yay!) My main interests are shopping for make-up and anything beauty related. I have more makeup than I know what to do with it. I also read. A lot. I read one book a week. Actually that’s a lie; I haven’t done so in the last month. The last book I read was some random book about a vampire. And no it was not Twilight, even though I am obsessed with it.
People who are close to me would describe me as being old-fashioned at heart. I use expressions like “gosh” and “oh dear” when I hear or see something shocking or strange. I do prefer old things over new and am quite conservative when it comes to my personal style. I am thinking of posting a couple of pictures as proof of this. My likes; anything pretty and shiny. My dislikes; people in food courts who don’t return their trays and rubbish to the disposal areas. Seriously. Gosh (!), I can’t really think of anything more to say about myself. Hopefully that will give you SOME idea of what I am like.
So why did I start a blog? Well, partly because of peer pressure from my blogger friends, and I mean that in a good way. It was also because I wanted to get back into writing on a regular basis. Most people don’t know this about me, but I started a diary when I was seven and kept one, right up until I was eighteen. Since then, life and work came in the way, so diary writing eventually stopped. But I am now hoping to get back right into it with blogs!
Now on to the blog name. I decided to go with the name Styleouture as I wanted my blog name to be play on words and couldn’t come up with anything that was too long or short, but need it to just have a nice ring to it but still obviously remain original. Whoa, was that the longest sentence ever!? No one told me it would be so hard to make up a name! After three hours of painstakingly stalking the Internet making sure no one else had picked what I wanted, Styleouture was born!
I picked Styleouture, it being obviously a mesh of two words, style and couture. “Style”, as everyone has SOME sort of style, whether it be something quirky, eccentric, comfortable or just plain Jane. Which of course there is nothing wrong with this. This also does not refer to fashion in itself, but personality wise and the way a person views the world and everything around him or her. Couture refers to individuality, that spark that makes you, you. Again, it has nothing to do with anything materialistic.
The reason I chose those words, is, I do have a huge interest in anything to do with fashion, beauty, lifestyle and food. Food have now become stylish apparently. Hello, how popular have macaroons become in the last 12 months!?
I have still not decided where I want to take this blog in terms of directions and goals. People might say, “well why would you want to start something, if you don’t even know where it’s going?” Well that’s the most exciting part everyone! I’m very much go-with-flow kinda person, and I do what FEELS right, rather than what COULD be right. I think my main purpose at the moment is to make new friends and hopefully reach out to people in a global sense, sharing the same interests as me. After all, isn’t that what the online world is all about?
At this point in time, I am categorising this blog to be a “lifestyle” blog. It would just be stories of my thoughts on everything I find beautiful, important, funny or just plain randomness. But since I’m a shopping and food junkie, most posts would probably make up these two elements.
As this will be my first public blog, I’m yet to consider how personal I want to make it. This means I might not blog about my close family and friends, my personal or working life. But this might change of course, once I find myself settled into this whole blogging world.
I should think about concluding this post. SO, I am open to ANY tips, hints and advice on what you guys would love to see on this blog. I am a sponge, give me any advice you can give me and I will absorb it all! But also please be nice, I am human and have feelings. I am still unsure how often I am going to post, but for now, I think I will post once a week until I can get the hang of it and of course be comfortable with putting my thoughts out there for the whole world to see. I would also hate to feel like this would turn into a chore or because I “have to”. I want this blog to be fun!
I would like to give special mentions to some friends who told me to start a blog as there is a fantastic community of bloggers out there, to be a part of. Tara from Keeping Up With Me for relentlessly pushing me in the last 6 months to start a blog! I finally got here! You can relax now, haha!
And also to my best friend Tammerly from Pink Diva Beauty Spot for actually being there from day one and didn’t think weird of me for being obsessed with beauty and makeup and randomly went to see her at work, nearly 5 years ago! Guess what guys, me and Tammerly actually met through MySpace, does anyone remember that site!?
So I hope you will join in my journey to be a part of “everything that’s beautiful.”
